Q1: Can I charge my cell phone or laptop in an Egyptian standard outlet?

A1: The electric current is 220 Volt 50Hz. European style two pin plugs are standard. Converters can be purchased at your local hardware or appliance store.

Q2: One of our hotels is based on half board. What does this mean?

A2: Half board simply means two meals will be provided. These meals are usually breakfast and dinner, unless otherwise specified.

Q3: Is it appropriate to tip in Egypt? If so, how much?

A3: Yes, tipping is appreciated in Egypt. Two weeks prior to your departure, we will provide you with a comprehensive tipping list. The amounts provided are only recommended and are not mandatory to be met by our passengers.

Q4: I really like your tours but I have other ideas in mind. Can you custom make my dream tour?

Q5: We want to celebrate our wedding anniversary and bring our favourite champagne to Egypt. What are the alcohol restrictions?

A5: You may bring up to 2 liters of alcohol with you.

Q6: What kind of food should I avoid when in Egypt?

A6: You should avoid fruits that you cannot peel yourself, ice in beverages, and undercooked food. It is also not recommended that you eat food from food stalls located in the streets.

Please do not drink tap water. Bottled mineral water should be your only source of water.

Q7: What should I wear for dinner on the Nile cruise? Is it formal attire?

A7: The dress code for dinner on the cruise is business casual (suit jackets, ties, or long dresses are not needed).

Q8: What kind of clothing should I take?

A8: We suggest you bring cotton or woolen clothes. Also, taking sweaters or a jacket can keep you warm when the desert drops to low temperatures at night. Please take comfortable soft walking shoes that have been worn before. Shorts are acceptable to be worn in all areas of Egypt with the exception of Old

Cairo (where you will be visiting Mosques & Churches). Please be advised that Egyptian men do not wear shorts in Egypt as it is commonly considered children’s attire.

Q9: Can I swim in the Nile River?

A9: It is absolutely not advised that you swim in the Nile River. This river contains many disease causing microbes which may result in severe illness/infections if bathed in or ingested.

Q10: Can I use traveler's cheques in Egypt?

A10: Cash is the preferred method of payment. However, if you choose to take traveler’s cheques, please ensure you have your passport ready at the bank for the exchange.

Q11: Can I use my credit card in Egypt?

A11: We do not recommend the use of Credit Cards in Egypt. Cash is the preferred method of payment.

Q12: Can I exchange my Canadian money in Egypt? Or do I have to do that prior to my departure?

A12: Please be advised that there will be a few banks open at the terminal where you can exchange your foreign currency upon your arrival. You may take Canadian or US dollars with you to change into Egyptian Pounds. Please do not change Canadian into US currency prior to your departure. ATM machines may not be readily available and you may incur special service fee charges – we recommend that you do not count on their availability.

Q13: What is the legal drinking age in Egypt?

A13: 21 Years old.

Q14: Do we need any vaccinations for Egypt?

A14: Specific vaccinations are not required for entry in Egypt. However, it is recommended that all of your vaccinations are up-to-date one month prior to your departure. For further consultation, you may refer to a travel clinic provided by Health Canada.

Q15: I am traveling to Egypt, then to Jordan for a return back to Egypt. Am I required another visa for re-entry?

A15: Yes, you will need to purchase another visa for re-entry. They can be purchased at the Egyptian airport upon your arrival for approximately 15.00 to 20.00 USD cash.

Q16: When we visit Egypt, do we need to get a visa? If so, where and for how much?

A16: Visas are required for all passengers traveling to Egypt. Canadian passport holders may purchase them at the Egyptian airport upon their arrival for approximately 15.00 to 20.00 USD cash. You may contact the Egyptian Embassy or Egyptian Consulate if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
